~ Time Travel ~

Since ages ago, time travelling has been a hot topic for many movies, novels and even cartoons or comics. Why? It is because people wants to have the second chance to redo. For example, in Harry Potter, Harry travel back in time to save his godfather, Sirius, or in Mr. Peabody and Sherman, they travel through time to learn history, then uses the time machine to fix things back.

I believe that, if given chance, everyone of us would want to return to the past to make the right choice.

But, we are humans. By doing the wrong choice is what make us humans.

It is not saying that we must do the wrong thing. However, by taking the wrong path, it makes us vulnerable. It makes us learn and change. Each and one of us is not perfect, and that is what make humans to have humanity. It is what make human to improve.

Thomas Edison did over hundreds of experiments in order to find how to create a lightbulb. If he got the formula at the start, people would not know what other materials are not usable for conducting electricity. And he did not regret the numerous experiments.

If a person had his life sailing smoothly since the start, would he had the chance to regret? Or become better? If the person did something wrong and have the opportunity to change it, would he be the same as before or the changed one after?

For example, a rich person drinks while driving. It cause him to have an accident which him to stay in hospital for weeks. He found out that his family cares about him, but not his girlfriend. It made him to be more responsible to himself and his family. However, if he went back in time and stops himself from having the accident, would the past him still finds out the truth about his partner and family? Would he learn to be more responsible?

Therefore, I don't believe in changing the past would make you a better person, because how would you learn without mistakes?

~ Cars ~

In my opinion, cars should not exist in the first place.

Yes~
It is the main transport that people use currently on Earth.
It is useful to travel for long distance.
It is a way of relaxing. (travelling trips.)
It is helpful for showing off to other people. (Volvo, Volkswagen, Audi, Mazda....)

But~
It is a troublesome. (The maintenance, the learning, and the...)
It is causing more deaths than a airplane.
It is making people to be more lazy. (People is not working out but sitting in the car just for 5 mins distance.)
It is occupying more space than a human does.
It costs more than it is worth most of the time.
It is another reason for people to skip classes, late for work and something that they use as an excuse. (Traffic jam, broke down, send for the service...)

If cars were taken away from this world, the society might collapse. The economy will be disrupted, people will be screaming and shouting (not really), people will be shut out from the outer world. They will be crying because they have to walk instead of taking the easy way.

However, cars is a proof that people is moving towards the future. Even though it might cause more trouble than it should be, it is helping us now. Everyone now is taking the car as a requirement for their daily life.

So, when people think that plane is dangerous, cars are more. It is hard to determine what humans are creating is good or bad. They have their benefits and also they are nurturing people to become more dependable towards technology gadgets (making people lazy.).

Thus, for you, is what people are making worth the it?

~ Lying ~

When the elders said "we should not lie", that is a lie.

People should lie instead of telling the truth. Lying is not a bad thing. I lied so much in my life that I got sick of lying, so, I just tell the truth. It's not like anyone could tell it is the truth or not, or is it a lie.

What is a lie? People uses it to cover up the truth. They used it to avoid conflict. They used it to prevent troubles. No one can accept the total truth for the whole time. Even when a person says "if you tell me the truth, I won't ...(action, emotions or anything)...", that is a lie.

In the study of Malaysians, we are considered as collectivist. That means that Malaysians would prefer to be in "WE" and "US" rather than "I", "ME" and "MYSELF". (It also means that my best friends are not "I", "ME" and "MYSELF".) We are not selfish pricks that would only walk, talk, eat, drink, play or study alone. We must be in a group when we are doing something. Therefore, as collectivists, it is important that we Malaysians, in Chinese context, need to "give face" or avoid any moments that would caused other people feel awkward or embarrassing. To keep the interpersonal harmony, we would even consider telling a lie if the lie helps more than the truth. Thus, for Malaysians, lying is not a biggie.

A lie can be major or minor. For a major issue, it would be like a person did something illegal then uses lies to cover it up and avoid being caught. Meanwhile, a simple lie, a white lie of "I'm alright" when people asks you even though it is so obvious that you are not okay or in a bad mood. It is just depending on when did you used it for and why.

So, how did all of this started? I believe that a person started to lie when they are young, when they have learn the technique to talk. Children cries, screams, and shouts because they know that, by doing all those things, they could get what they wanted. At the same time, they also learn about good and bad things, like they should not eat candy before dinner. So, after learning that having candy before dinner would lead to scoldings and punishments, the children will know that what they had done is actually bad. Then if the parents starts to question and if the child really had done the wrong act, they would try to say they didn't do it, which means they have already started to lie. It is about the self-preservatives instinct in everyone. If people know and understand what danger is, then they would do anything to avoid it. It does not matter whether the danger is physical, emotional, psychological or relationship. As long as it would do some damage, people have the tendency of avoiding it, until it hits them in the face.

We can say that lying is a human nature because they would prefer to show the better side only. By lying, people could hide the unpleasant facts of oneself or surrounding. It would help the person to have a better life sometimes or easier chances. That is due to the fact that, we are collectivists. We want to care for the feelings of other people.

Therefore, lying is not a bad thing. It is a common thing that would occur in our daily life. However, people receive lies as something bad or negative. That is because by lying, people would think you are covering something, which made people think that they are not worth your time or your trust. It's like you are abandoning your relationship, your privacy is more important.

Despite that, even though we are collectivists, we are not nudists. We do not have to reveal everything to the public. We also need some "I", "ME" and "MYSELF" time too.

So, people, don't think that lying is equal to bad.

~ Technology ~

Few years back, there was an animation named "Wall-E". It was about a cleaning robot that have human emotions which still works on Earth after everyone abandoned it. The Earth is filled up with rubbishes that can be made into a skyscraper. In the mean time, the humans are living in their space ship. With the help of technology, they have become obesity, lazy, and addicted to their gadgets.

Why the Earth was corrupted in the first place?

Is it because of the convenience of technology? Or the wasting habit of human? Or the human nature for destruction?

Yes to the first two, not sure to the last. Actually all of those are interrelated.

Try to think this. Human created gadgets to have a easier life, like phones. Decades ago, people uses letters to send messages, then phones to call each other. Moving on is the internet. But then, how often do you change these gadgets? People nowadays is switching their phones every few months, some even when the newest model is out.

Then what happens to the old ones?

They will be throw into garbage bins. That's the answer.

Destroying a tower needs less time than building one.

To buy a phone, for some people, they need months to earn the money and days to months for creating one. However, to destroy the phone or throwing it away, we just need one second.

This made people to think "it is okay to throw away things because I can have new ones and they are better than that."

That is bad.

We always says it is important to appreciate things. But that is just as easy as for a person to change their habits, which would happen in once in a blue moon.

So, to change immediately is not possible, but having second or third thoughts would might help you to be a little more appreciating for what you have.

Think before you do.

~ Singularity ~

If there is no 'man' and 'woman', there is only human (same gender, same appearance, same everything... just like clones), can we be peaceful?

What is 'peaceful'? By definition, it means tranquil, free from disturbance, not involving in war or conflict. it also means no aggression, no competition. With this, the best things we would get are no discrimination and no stereotyping. At that point of moment, we won't need to group our self because everyone would be the same.

Back to the question. If there is no 'man' and 'woman', there is only human, can we be peaceful?

With everything being the same, there would not be a leader or a "underdog". There will not be anyone that is special.

In reality, each one of us is unique. Even with identical twins, they have different talents, thoughts, ideas... Even their DNA is differ from one another. This proved that from our creation, we are meant to be special.

Being singular does not means that you will be out of the crowd. But you will be yourself. Many trends nowadays, especially the ones from K-pop or J-pop, is making you to be same as them. Like following the leader or a sheep in the herd. Sheep just follows whatever one another is doing. If the first jumps off the cliff, the rest will follow. That is quite similar to what the youngsters are doing now. If your friends says that you should skip classes and go shopping with them, you might be joining them because you want to be a part of them. Then, it will be peaceful.

However, what about you own thoughts? Your own opinion? Your own ideas? You won't be independent like that.

So, do you want to be the Sheep?

~ Telephone Booth ~

In the older comics and movies, there must be a scene that involves a pay phone or a telephone booth, especially in Superman. The telephone booth had become a icon for Superman because that is what he uses to hide his identity.

If I were to say that if I want to relate telephone booth or pay phone to my own self, I would say that it is the passiveness. I am a passive person. What is meant by passive? It means that like a ball, you have to give it a little push then only the ball would move. But how much it is going to be depended on your effort. I am a person that dislike trouble. Thus, my life has become a routine daily. If the routine is broken, most of the time it would be other people that does it. It is a rarity for me to invite other to shopping or just a day out with family.

Like the phone booth, it won't ring by itself. There must be a person on the other side then only the phone would be active. That would be the second thing that could relate to myself, quietness. By myself, I can have the whole day passed by without talking. I could spent the whole day in front of the computer or holding a book and won't be bored of it. That is my life.

The telephone booth is both private and public. The telephone booth in Superman comics and movies is a small secluded place that just allows one or two person in and it is also sound proof to other people outside. This shows the private part of myself. I am a private person. I keeps a lot of secrets in my mind. I don't share my daily life, like some FB users that posts everything, every second, to other people. You couldn't even see me posting things once a month. However, to my close friends, I could just blurt out secrets as passing comments. It's like Touch 'N Go, you said it, just leaving it hanging there and end of story. Just like using the phone, you can say anything on it. Anger. Tears. Kisses. Anything. However, the next minute it is forgotten.

Using the pay phone is a troublesome thing. You don't know that whether the phone line is good enough or not. Pay phone are considered to be an older way to communicate, since that everyone now have their own mobile phone in their pockets. And since that the pay phones are public facilities, most of them are not of good qualities. Since that I'm a quiet person, my communication skill aren't up to par to some of my peers. I could be considered to have difficulties of explaining my ideas to other people. Sometimes they might get what I am talking about (I'm not sure about this), but most of the times we aren't in the same page.

Besides that, I think that the telephone booth is a lonely object or isolated. That is quite similar to me if you see me in a party or even in daily life activities. You would see me holding my phone, sitting in the corner, not bothering anyone else. I only interact when there is a must. If not, I will be spending the whole time doing my stuffs, isolated in my own world. People uses the pay phone when it is a must, not because they like to.

~ Colours ~

By theory, Black is void of colours, while White is full of colours. This is proved by science in the light discovery of reflection and refraction. There is one little test that you can prove this in your own home. First, take a piece of paper and cut it into a circle. Later, paint it like the spectrum colour or the rainbow. After you're done with it, poke through the middle with a piece of stick or a pencil. Now, you must spin it as fast as you can. If this is done correctly, you will see the colours mixed together and formed just one colour, White or Grey.

However, why when we mixed different colours of paint, it turns into something darker? Why doesn't it return to pure White?

This is actually how people see things.

Let's take a piece of paper to represent a person. When you were born, you don't know anything. What you were born with, it's your paper's material. For example, some people may be having tissue paper, some are having cardboard paper. Thus, when you grew up, different painting material creates different effects on the paper.

As for your painting materials, these are contributed by the different institutes that you meet growing up. Your parents gave you your brushes and first painting colour set. Your education gave you your first pair of scissors, allowing you to shape your paper. Followed by your first commentary on your art by your peers, modification of art caused by the society, and so on, as you mets more and more people.

Different elements create differ ending for your story on the paper. The Black on the paper might not means the person have bad behaviour. The bright colours like Red maybe meaning the person is hot-tempered rather than passionate.

Therefore, why are we taking the surface meaning of things so seriously? Why are people so judgemental on the first look? Couldn't we just gave a chance to the others to present themselves, rather than making yourself so stereotypical?

~ Immortal ~

In ancient Chinese history, there was once a great emperor, named Zhao Zheng, or rather known as Shih Huang-Ti, Emperor Qin. This emperor was the first Shih/Qin dynasty emperor. He was also the first to conquered and united China. Other than that, after his achievement of uniting the country, he created the Imperial Seal using He Shi Bi, the well-known jade. On this seal, words of "Having received the Mandate from Heaven, may lead a long and prosperous life." was craved onto the it. Besides, in his later life, Emperor Qin believes in longevity. He believes in 'Elixir of Life'. However, until his death, he could not prove the truth of it.

If given the chance of living forever, would you choose the path?

In the positive point of view, immortality means living forever. It means you have the time to do whatever you wish for. There is no time limit for anything. You will be having the chance of watching the change of the world, civilization, culture, knowledge, and many more. You will also have the chance of eternal youth and beauty.

However, You will be suffering the death of your close ones. Family. Friends. Your beloved. Even if you were given the chance to bring them, would they want to suffer in that way?

Let's say if you survived the first few hundreds years, how about the rest? You still need to face the same thing for the next hundreds, thousands, millions years, until somehow you are destroyed from this life.

Immortality does not mean everything good. In fabled tales, ancient Chinese Gods are known to be cold and heartless. There were sayings that one must abandoned their feelings, their cares, their possessions, in order to become one of the higher beings. Thus, if a person is given the chance of immortality, after a period of time, the person would not have a care to the normal people. Then what is the use of living forever, if you would be bored of it anyway in the end?

~ Perfection~

For some people, Barbie is considered as perfect. She has the typical American girl look. Beautiful blonde hair, charming smile, bright blue eyes, and an amazing body figure. In reality, there are also people that modifies their own body into these plastic figures of perfection.Nevertheless, the most successful real life Barbie is the one from Russia.

However, is "perfect" achievable?

Everyone have their own point of view.

From teacher to student, "perfect" student must be quiet, hardworking, bright, studious, understandable, creative, follow by the rules, right on time...
From parents to children, "perfect" child are the one with obedience, studious, hardworking, caring, honest, filial, beautiful, charming, respectful...
From children to parents, "perfect" parents most likely to be rich, intelligent, understanding, caring, carefree, fun, spontaneous...

Those are not likely to be possible. Maybe to some, but not to all.

There is no "perfect". We can have "almost perfect", but never "perfect". God, Mother Nature, Jade Emperor, or whoever is up there, created all living beings with flaw. If something, or someone was created with perfection, then the thing or the person should not be in existence. This is because if it is already "perfect", should not it be somewhere ruling over the non-perfects? All of us have our own flaw, this is to allow us to improve ourselves.

If we do not need to improve, then the world will not change. Since the Earth was made, everything is evolving. Plants, animals, insects, even the Earth (just not sure it is to the good end or the bad). They are changing from small to big, big to small, pea brains to highly sophisticated intelligent beings. These all shows that we are still not "perfect" yet, if we still need to change.

However, when the day arrives, when all of us became "perfect", I myself hope that I would not see that day. Because, when that day comes, we all will be replication of each other. Clones. Not one of us is different. Not one of us is unique. Not one of us can represent ourselves.

~Wishes~

The older generation alway tells us to think before we do. Beware for what you wish for. Plan it through before go on with it. There are many mythical ways to do a wish. Monkey Paws, Rabbit's Foot, Candles on a Birthday cake, and so on... But do they really come true?

Now, IF you have Three chances or Three wishes, what would you wish for?

Most commonly ones are~
~ Money (Millionaires, billionaires, zillionaires... with many zeros in the bank account)
~ Beauty (Most pretty, handsome, elegant, charming...)
~ Fame (I'm sorry, but there is a paparazzi in the bushes, one behind the walls, another at the window...)
~ Talent (Musician with degrees of science, maths, language... Such big brains you have...)
~ Time (Yes, we want to live for a long long time so that we can see everyone else died...)
~ A chance to redo (Rewind and do again. Those high-tech remotes that lets you to do anything.)
~ A perfect partner (Ma'am, the computer you wished for have arrived.)
~ Another three/four/five/unlimited wishes

Next. WHY? Why did you choose for that? Let's see.
The first one, you don't have it so you want more. Greed.
Second, other people is more pretty than you, so you want to be more. Envy.
Third, you have the beauty/charm/whatever, so you want to sell yourself at a higher price. Vanity.
Fourth. Fifth. And so on, so on...

For each and every one of them, the causes for people to do the wishes are quite on the negative side. However, these kind of wishes are more focusing on the people that have a smooth life. They might not be successful, but they are still having a life that are better than some people across the world. They wished for all those things are due to the fact that there are still people out there that have a better life than they. This reveals the GREED in human nature. They are not satisfied at all.

Nevertheless, if the wishes are given to a desperate person, for example, a person that have a family member that is seriously injured or sick. Or they are in economic crisis. Or it is a life or death situation they are in. For them, it is another chance for living. A chance for them to save their own or other people's life.

Everything have two side, both of the Good and Bad. We cannot just focus onto one. Yes, humans are greedy, but if we do not have the nature to try and gain for what we want, the world would not improve, even ourselves would not improve, in knowledge or resources wise. Thus, it is not a bad thing to wish, hope or pray, just don't take it too extremely.

~Reproduction~

Let's pretend we are on a different world. A parallel world. You awoke in a different world. It's modern, not much of a change from what we have in our world. And then, you found out there is one thing that is majorly different. You found out that....

MAN IN THIS WORLD CAN BE PREGNANT.

Actually that is the topic for this post. Let's pretend that when God created Adam, He gave Adam the ability to give birth. Then, God would not created Eve, but Evan, which means women does not or do not need to be exist. However, that is too far back and we "deleted" women. So, if women exists and man have the ability to carry the child... (and women still have the reproductive system)

Pro~
~Men would understand women more, due to the hormones that will create chaotic emotion swings.
~Gender equality will be achieved. (yay to the people who are trying for this for years, decades, centuries...)
~Men will have the same amount of holidays as women.
~Men no longer need to care about their ego, and they can blame the emotional break downs on hormones.
~Discrimination of LGBT would be non-existent. (Totally yes on the gay part, not sure with the others...)
~Men will be more caring, less aggressive.

BUT~
~Women might be oppressed to a position that are even lower, since centuries, millenniums ago, they are considered as tools for the next generation.
~Men will do more irrational choices, like how they blame women now.
~Women might extinct. Maybe someone in the history decides that women are useless and that person have the ability to exterminate women...
~The world might not be so advanced. Men might care more for family, rather than anything else.

There are more things to consider, to think, if man really can be pregnant. But, God created Eve is not for reproduction, but for fulfilling Adam's half. Man need women for emotional support, and women need men for protection...(Just joking.)
Man are more towards the logical mind, while women, to the emotional part.
Man are stronger in physical. Women are stronger in emotional.
They are the opposite of each other. Therefore, we need both side to make a whole. If man can be pregnant, they would have the weaker side, then women will not be needed. Thus, let's hope that man still need us woman in the future if there is apocalypse or species-changing event happens...

~ Siblings ~

There are five children in my family. Four girls and a boy. I am the second among them. To me, they are "Da Jie", older sister, "Da Mei", first younger sister, "Ah Di", younger brother, and "Xiao Mei", little sister.

Since young, the children in my family don't really socialize with outsiders, including relatives. We can be considered as very reclusive people comparing with other people of our generation. This is due to the fact that my family's rules are quite strict. Until now, my siblings and I do not go out for the sake of fun with friends after dinner time. We do not visit our relatives until it is necessary, like for the festivals. Even then, we are supposed to sit in the corner, don't play around with the cousins, and wait for the time to leave, because my dad don't like to socialize with them. However, this is only for my mom's side of family, because dad's side is more or less non-existing for the past few years. As for non-existing, it does not mean that they had died or anything, it meant that we don't contact them and they don't contact us.

Now, moving on to my siblings. My older sister is a great student, in my opinion. She is currently working in Singapore, after her recent graduation from her four-year double degree course of Business and Accountancy in NTU. Before that, she was a STPM student which had passed with flying colors of 5 straight As in account stream. In her secondary and primary schools, she was one of those students that would have full As in her report as well as being one of the prefect in schools. My sister is a dedicated person. She is talented, well-mannered, ambitious and independent girl. She is also a obedient daughter to my parents, and to us, the younger ones, a strict sister. As pretty as it sounds, the relationship among us, the children, are not as strong as it seems. In my family, we don't really communicate with each other. For example, I could tell more things about my emotional problems to my friends, but not to my family members. This is all due to my family do not have that habit of talking with each other. Thus, until now, I don't know what is the name of the company that she is working at. (But that could be found out with a click on her Facebook page...)

Next, my "Da Mei". She is younger than me by two years. She have graduated from Form Six with a STPM results of 3.5 something. Originally, my mom was hoping for her to study in Singapore. Nevertheless, even with that high marks, she was not accepted. So, currently, she is waiting for the interview for her degree course, which is Law, by the way. By appearance, this sister of mine is very tomboyish. Her personality comparing with mine, are almost the total opposite. Just by the food we preferred, she prefers to have hot and spicy while I only could take them on the minimal scale. I could be considered as a seafood lover, while she hates everything that are living in the water. I am mild-tempered and more considerate in a conflict, but she would be judge harshly when is crossed by others. However, it seems that even with her hot temper, she is a I-don't-care-what-you-are-thinking-and-doing-as-long-as-you-are-not-bothering-me person, and have a few life long friends.

In Chinese culture, most people would think boys are better than girls, because they are the ones that will be earning money and passing down family tradition, while girls are equal to losing money due to dowry and things. For my family, this concept is almost to non-existence, but still, there is the word "almost". My brother is the only son. When he was born, there was quite an age gap between us. I was already 8 years old by that time, and my sisters are 11 years old and 6 years old respectively. As my brother was growing up, it was the era of technology. People were having computers at home, internet was starting to be the "It" thing, and gameboy got popular. My brother is not a person that appreciate things since young. He is a child that always threw his temper very easily. One of the most memorable of his bad temper was, when he was around the age of 6 or 7, he throws the gameboy, which wasn't really belongs to him, to the ground, just because we doesn't want him to continue playing. That kind of behavior still exist now, just the way of expressing is different. Instead of throwing things, he would sulk and started to dig for secret or the wrong things we done. For example, if we stops him from continuing using the computer, he would start to backstab us or tries to question why he wasn't allow to use while other people could. Then, later on, he would tries to use the computer sneakily, like during everyone are sleeping. Ugh, brothers.

My little sister is very cute, but annoying. She is very aggressive when is being bothered by others. She would hit you if you are teasing her. In school, she is a blur case. The amount for her to lost her stationary, especially eraser, in Standard One, is similar to the amount of I would used from primary to secondary school. More than often, she would misplace her belongings in her school. Eventhough, she is quite rough with her playing around, she provided my family with a lot of laughter. Just days ago, my family went out for dinner, mom was asking who wants to eat what, and little sis said she wanted spaghetti. So, when we arrived at the place, there was a few times that we repeated what we wanted to eat. This is where the funny part came in. After we are being seated, the waitress asked for our drinks, my little sister wasn't paying attention at all. Thus, when mom asks her what did she want to drink, she shouted spaghetti. All of us laughed. This is my little sister.

My family is not the best in the world, and it is not the worst. It is just right for me. Even with the goods and bad, ups and downs, I really hope that we would still stick together for a long long time.
